FAQs

Here at Joanne Kay we aim to make your visit wonderfully special, by creating a welcoming and relaxing atmosphere we want to make sure that you have happy memories of finding your dream dress.

To help answer some of your questions & replace any worries you may possibly have with feelings of excitement, here are some of your queries answered;

When Should I Start Looking?  This all depends on when you are ready!! Ideally you should aim to be ordering your dress 7-9 months prior to your wedding, this allows time for the dress to be made to order & time to ensure your dress is fitted perfectly for you. Don’t worry if you are on a tight timescale, we will always do our best to help you get that dream dress.

Who Should I Bring with Me? Finding that dream dress is often a moment you want to share with your nearest & dearest. However our Boutique is rather intimate and we recommend no more than 2/3 guests to truly enjoy this experience, we have also found that too many loved ones can often give conflicting opinions which can be confusing to you and you must always remember that it is your dress and to stay true to yourself! We love children and welcome them with open arms but just remember this is a special time for you and we want to look after you, so to allow us to do that & for you to feel totally relaxed, please ensure you bring someone with you to look after them. After all the appointment is about you and finding that dream dress!

How Long do Appointments Last? We allow 1.5hrs for that initial appointment, which allows plenty of time to try on lots of beautiful dresses. Saturday appointments are our most popular, so we do recommend you book your appointment as far in advance as possible. We like to accommodate all our brides so late night appointments are also available on request.

What is the Price Range of Dresses? We have a beautiful choice of bridal gowns which start from £899 up to £2400

What Size are your Sample Dresses? Our sample dresses are in sizes 12-18

What Happens at my Appointment? We offer you the whole of the Boutique for your appointment, so therefore you have our undivided attention in helping you find your ‘Perfect Dress’. We like to find out a little bit about you before the fun really starts!! We then step back to allow you to have a look through all our dresses & choose those you would like to try.

What Should I Wear and Bring with me to my Appointment? Just be comfortable! It would be great if you could wear a strapless bra & have a clip to tie your hair up to ensure you can see every detail of the dress! We do ask that you refrain from wearing fake tan and keep make up to a minimum just to ensure that the dress remains as beautiful as possible for the next bride!

What Happens with Fittings & Alterations? We have a superb seamstress, Tracy, who we work with and at the time of ordering your dress we will discuss timescales for fittings. As a guideline we suggest fittings are booked in approximately 6-8 weeks prior to your wedding to ensure that perfect fit. The cost of your alterations is not included in the price of your gown and payment for any alterations should be paid directly to the seamstress. At your first fitting it is essential that you bring with you your shoes & underwear that you intend to wear on your Wedding Day.

Where can I Park? Stokesley has ample free parking, the majority of which is disc parking, allowing you 2hrs maximum, we have plenty of discs in the Boutique for you to use! There is also unlimited free parking directly outside the Boutique and you don’t need a disc!

How do I Purchase my Wedding Gown? Once you have found your perfect dress, we will take your measurements and discuss with you which size to order. We then require a 50% deposit at this point to enable us to place your gown on order with the designer. We will then arrange for your dress to be delivered to the Boutique approximately 12weeks prior to your Wedding date, at which point we will then contact you.
